Under the new California Solar Initiaive (CSI), all Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), California Edison and San Diego Gas and Electric Customers can receive a substantial rebate for connecting a solar electric system to the utility grid. The incentives will be based on the size and expected performance of the system, with a maximum rebate of $2.50 per watt.
The CSI program will be administered by the California Public Utilities Commision (CPUC). Applications will be submitted to the customer's utility company.
Customers who wish to install a solar electric system on a new home must apply through the New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP). This program is administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC), and offers an incentive of $2.60 per watt for production homes with solar as a standard feature, and $2.50 per watt for all other homes.
It is important to note that as soon as 70 megawatts of solar electric systems are installed in California, the incentive will be reduced by more then ten percent. Sign up now to receive the maximum rebate before it is reduced.
